Nokia with Skype

Nokia has proudly announced that they have came up with system of using free calling and free internet by using a website called Skype. They have made it so that people can make calls by using a 3g network and it cost very little to them by doing it.

The Nokia phones that currently have the new app are: N97, N97 mini, X6, 5800 or the business-minded E72 and E90. A week before them coming up with this idea Skype was originally going to take it off being mobile on its inconsistency, but Skype partnershiped with Verizon to bring its app in range and also on to the blackberry. Skype so far has only made it knowledgeable that its with one phone company right now, Skype is currently trying to land with another calling platform.

The problem Skype is having with the app at the moment is the 3g network isn’t able to recieve calls or to make calls but the text messaging is up, and the  calling is only under WiFi for the moment. Wireless carriers are seeing a major decline with incoming calls, Skype was considered an additional risk. The reason for it being a major risk is because having skype could lead to a lot of problems with phones and cause customers not satisfied with the services and cost more money then a regular service plan.

So Skype coming to mobile platforms can either be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on if they can fix the problem they are having with the wifi set-up of the phone system. If not that could be a really bad thing for them and for customers with the new release.

  1. Companies should be executing network analyzers ahead rolling out VoIP or any unified communications application to picture their current network performance, discover and do away with possible obstacles, discover performance benchmarks, and to monitor performance post deployment. Beyond invalidating upfront obstacles to success, the insights acquired from pre-deployment testing and continuous monitoring of the added VoIP traffic will help you to intelligently configure warning devices on the monitoring tool to alert you when VoIP performance varies from the average.
