Since the ripe old age of 2, little Sam Ricker has been skiing faster than you. Lovingly referred to as Randon Ricker by fellow LAHS senior ski team member Brody Youland, Sam is about as misunderstood and misrepresented as they come. A jack of all trades, and the biggest threat on the Maine high school circuit, Sam is as good as it gets, and he’s only getting better. Continue reading
All winter you wait.
It starts in November, with a single chairlift and a strip of snow down the center of the trail. It progresses to the patchy snow conditions of December, and through the gale force winds and unrelenting freezing and thawing of January. Through February’s cruel teasing of icy conditions accompanied with no snow and lots of sun, you wait.
The buzz around the school this week was not about turkey dinners, upcoming family functions or on the over anticipated thanksgiving break. No, its focus has been on the state championship football game, where our very own Leavitt Hornets will take on Cape Elizabeth. The two talented-undefeated teams will compete for the Class B Eastern State Championship title, this Saturday at Fitzpatrick Stadium at 6p.m. This is definitely a game you won’t want to miss.

Outlook: After losing six key seniors last
year, Leavitt is still looking very good this
season. After losing to Morse in the PTC Class B
semifinals, the Hornets are looking to redeem
themselves. Having possibly the best running back
in Class B, Josh Strickland will make it no problem
for the Hornets run game. Starting since their
sophomore year, Pellerin, Wiley, and Porter on
the line will hold down the defense for Leavitt.
It will be a surprise if we don’t see this team
going deep into the playoffs. Continue reading
